About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide social technical support to promote the Bank's strategic environmental and social (E&S) priorities in the Caribbean region.
  • Supervise public sector operations in countries including Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Barbados, and Bahamas.
  • Conduct supervision missions and provide ongoing support for operation execution related to social aspects.
  • Review and draft Environmental and Social Assessments, Management Plans, and Resettlement Plans.
  • Prepare initial Environmental and Social Review Summaries (ESRS) for project preparation.
  • Perform due diligence on E&S issues such as stakeholder engagement, involuntary resettlement, grievance mechanisms, and gender-based violence.
  • Provide training on Bank Safeguards Policies or the ESPF to executing agencies and key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in anthropology, sociology, international development, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in preparing, supervising, or implementing social impact assessments and management plans.
  • Specific experience working with the environmental and social policies of multilateral banks.
  • Proficiency in English and one other Bank official language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese).
  • Citizenship of an IDB member country.
