Operations Shift Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on leadership to employees during assigned shifts, supervising production processes and machine operations.
• Ensure the application of health, safety, and environment (HSE) standards, including performing inspections and participating in investigations.
• Manage performance for direct reports by applying collective bargaining agreements (CBA) and conducting annual reviews.
• Control and follow the production process to ensure schedules are met according to product specifications and quality standards.
• Monitor process indicators such as productivity, utilization, and rejections to optimize plant performance.
• Maintain a visible presence in the mill to foster employee engagement and assess work process effectiveness.
• Coordinate schedules, assign responsibilities, and identify opportunities for process improvements.

Requirements

• Relevant technical diploma or degree with 3-5 years of industrial/manufacturing experience, OR 10+ years of manufacturing experience in leadership roles.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian manufacturing safety procedures.
• Ability to work a 12-hour rotational shift (days and nights) in a steel manufacturing mill environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a steel mill or similar manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with SAP.
• Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
