About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day annual operating budget and partner with Finance to ensure transparency and resource allocation.
  • Lead annual nonprofit compliance obligations, including IRS Form 990 management, tax filings, audits, and governance reporting.
  • Drive end-to-end operational excellence for core initiatives such as Friendship Microgrants, Belong Benches, and the Blueprint platform.
  • Provide people leadership and professional development opportunities to strengthen team capacity.
  • Support the Chairwoman with fundraising efforts to drive long-term financial sustainability.
  • Identify, cultivate, and secure relationships with high-net-worth individuals, family foundations, and sponsors.
  • Partner with the Chief of Staff to organize quarterly Board meetings and lead monthly all-hands meetings.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of professional experience in nonprofit management, operations, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success in budget oversight, financial reporting, and organizational risk management.
  • Experience supporting fundraising efforts and driving donor campaigns.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit compliance requirements, including IRS Form 990 and annual audits.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and build efficient systems in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong people leadership experience, including team management and coaching.
  • High proficiency with Google Workspace, Slack, and QuickBooks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Based in New York City and able to work from the Greenpoint, Brooklyn HQ at least once per week.
