Operations Area Manager

Responsibilities

• Manage, plan, and issue work orders for day-to-day repair, maintenance, and preventative maintenance of university buildings and systems.
• Mentor, motivate, and supervise craft personnel, overseeing attendance, compliance, and investigative activities.
• Participate in the planning of renovations, additions, and new construction to ensure operational integrity.
• Oversee outside vendors performing work on building systems.
• Collaborate with the Planning, QA, and Regulatory Compliance division to implement preventative maintenance programs and load leveling.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in building systems, including electrical and mechanical operation and repair.
• Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a union environment.
• Valid Driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• EPA Universal Recovery Certificate (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment).
• Strong knowledge of building codes and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Computerized Maintenance, Time and Attendance, and Purchasing Systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience using work management systems such as AiM or Kronos.
