Operating Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform daily building maintenance, including inspection, operation, repair, and maintenance of heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, steam, and hot water systems.
• Operate high-pressure boilers and the Building Automation Center.
• Maintain pneumatic and HVAC/R systems throughout the hospital.
• Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Meet productivity standards and support the mission and vision of Ingalls Hospital.
• Work rotating weekends and holidays as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a recognized apprentice program or 6-12 months of post-high school education in refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating.
• Working knowledge of high-pressure boilers.
• Current City of Chicago or State of Illinois stationary engineer license.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical activity, including lifting over 80 lbs and pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs.
• Ability to work from ladders and scaffolds and work in inclement weather.
