Operating Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on boilers, ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning machinery, generators, pumps, and compressors.
• Monitor and regulate the operation of boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and utility systems.
• Adjust fuel and airflow, regulate water levels, and read gauges to monitor steam pressure and valve operation.
• Maintain detailed logbooks of boiler and pumping equipment operations and maintenance performed.
• Administer chemicals to closed systems and cooling towers, and test water for chemical content.
• Monitor and verify plant and building HVAC equipment operation using electronic automation systems.
• Perform minor repairs on boilers and related equipment and assist skilled workers with major repairs.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of experience or training in the operation or maintenance of large stationary engines or mechanical equipment (depending on level).
• Possession of an appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen/physical if required.
