About the role

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, operate, and repair stationary boilers, motors, pumps, compressors, valves, and other auxiliary equipment.
  • Operate boilers and pressure vessels at maximum efficiency to minimize energy consumption.
  • Perform comprehensive tests and record readings for fuel consumption, pressure, draft conditions, temperatures, and steam flow.
  • Treat steam, water, and fuel with necessary chemicals in accordance with prescribed requirements and regulations.
  • Conduct continual inspections of equipment and systems, reporting conditions to the Plant Manager or Senior Shift Supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate logs, records, and files for all auxiliary plants and complete all necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Analyze equipment problems and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Remain available to cover shifts during emergencies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the operation of steam, hot water boilers, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Possession of a minimum Blue Seal license.
  • Valid driver's license (must be able to complete the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course).
  • Knowledge of computerized monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge of computerized work order systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Chiller Plants.
  • Proficiency with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and plant monitoring software.
