Operating Engineer III

Responsibilities

• Maintain, operate, and repair stationary steam boilers and auxiliary equipment, including motors, pumps, compressors, and valves.
• Operate boilers and pressure vessels at maximum efficiency to minimize energy consumption.
• Perform comprehensive tests and take readings of fuel consumption, pressure, draft conditions, temperatures, and steam flow.
• Add necessary chemicals to treat steam, water, and fuel in accordance with prescribed requirements.
• Conduct continual inspections of equipment and systems, reporting conditions to the Plant Manager or Senior Shift Supervisor.
• Complete all required paperwork, logs, and records in a timely manner.
• Analyze technical problems and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and university regulations and policies.

Requirements

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the operation of steam/hot water boilers and auxiliary equipment.
• Possession of a Blue Seal License.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Knowledge of computerized monitoring systems.
• Knowledge of computerized work order systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Chiller Plants.
• Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and plant monitoring software.
