About the role
Responsibilities
- Maintain, operate, and repair stationary steam boilers and auxiliary equipment, including motors, pumps, compressors, and valves.
- Operate boilers and pressure vessels at maximum efficiency to minimize energy consumption.
- Perform comprehensive tests and take readings of fuel consumption, pressure, draft conditions, temperatures, and steam flow.
- Add necessary chemicals to treat steam, water, and fuel in accordance with prescribed requirements.
- Conduct continual inspections of equipment and systems, reporting conditions to the Plant Manager or Senior Shift Supervisor.
- Complete all required paperwork, logs, and records in a timely manner.
- Analyze technical problems and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and university regulations and policies.
Requirements
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the operation of steam/hot water boilers and auxiliary equipment.
- Possession of a Blue Seal License.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of computerized monitoring systems.
- Knowledge of computerized work order systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Chiller Plants.
- Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and plant monitoring software.
