Oncology Social Worker

Responsibilities

• Provide psychosocial assistance to cancer patients and their families using broad clinical expertise.
• Perform clinical assessments and develop, implement, and modify treatment plans based on patient needs.
• Link patients and families to community resources to address emotional, familial, economic, and environmental challenges.
• Promote and evaluate distress screenings within oncology clinics.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and Cancer Committee discussions.
• Educate patients and families on advance directives, palliative care, and hospice services.
• Document clinical support services in accordance with organizational, state, and federal regulations.

Requirements

• Master's degree in social work.
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Illinois.
• 3 to 5 years of work experience in a hospital or related clinical setting.
• Prior experience in Oncology.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication, project management, and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5 years of oncology-specific experience.
• Oncology Social Work Certification (OSW-C).
