Oncology Research Nurse I

Responsibilities

• Manage direct care for patients enrolled in clinical trials within the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center
• Conduct informed consent discussions and obtain patient consent
• Perform physical assessments and research visit protocols within the scope of nursing practice
• Monitor patient responses to intra- and post-study drug administration
• Conduct study-related patient education and perform phone triage for acute clinical issues
• Maintain timely research nursing documentation according to SOPs
• Facilitate study drug and product order preparation and verification
• Assist with administrative tasks including pre-certifications, prior authorizations, and prescription renewals
• Participate in required team, departmental, and study initiation meetings (SIVs)
• Complete required study-related training and provide protocol-related inservices for infusion staff

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or completion of an Accelerated Program in Nursing
• Valid New York State RN License
• Four years of related experience or equivalent in education

Preferred Qualifications

• Clinical research experience or oncology nursing experience
• Proficiency with MS Word and familiarity with Mac and PC platforms
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Prior certification in HIPAA, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and Conflict of Interest (COI)
