About the role
Responsibilities
- Maintain a caseload of students with disabilities, performing comprehensive assessments and interviews to identify needs.
- Review and interpret confidential medical, psychological, and neurological documentation to determine appropriate accommodations.
- Develop, recommend, and implement academic accommodation strategies and solutions.
- Advise course instructors, faculty, and staff on student accommodation issues and disability-related matters.
- Research and recommend alternative approaches to fulfill the duty to accommodate.
- Provide case management support and assess student funding applications for appropriate disbursement.
- Write confidential student accommodation summaries and monitor the effectiveness of implemented strategies.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in education, social work, psychology, learning disabilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience, specifically within a post-secondary environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and monitoring academic accommodations for adults with disabilities.
- Proven experience working with adults with mental health disabilities, including requisite counseling skills.
- Ability to interpret complex psychoeducational, neurological, and learning disability reports.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and professional interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
