About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of students with disabilities, performing comprehensive interviews and assessments of needs.
- Review and assess confidential medical and psychological documentation to ensure appropriate accommodations.
- Develop, recommend, and implement academic accommodations and strategies based on existing frameworks.
- Advise course instructors and staff on student accommodation issues and disability-related concerns.
- Research and recommend alternative approaches and possible accommodation solutions to fulfill the duty to accommodate.
- Assess and make recommendations regarding student funding applications and the disbursement of funds.
- Provide case management support and write confidential student accommodation summaries.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in education, social work, psychology, learning disabilities, or a related field.
- Minimum of four years of related experience, specifically within a post-secondary environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and monitoring academic accommodations for adults with disabilities.
- Proven experience working with adults with mental health disabilities, including requisite counseling skills.
- Ability to read and interpret psychoeducational, neurological, and ADHD assessments/reports.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to negotiate complex situations and work in evolving environments.
- Superior organizational skills and the ability to multi-task under pressure with strict deadlines.
