On-Call Archaeologist

Responsibilities

• Participate in identifying and recording areas of archaeological potential, sites, and traditional use sites
• Work closely with a Field Director/Supervisor to provide technical recommendations for cultural resources management
• Collect field data and participate in field reconnaissance surveys (linear and block type)
• Assist in archaeological impact assessments, excavations, and construction monitoring

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology
• Valid California driver’s license
• Ability to travel and work away from home
• Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work outdoors and be exposed to the elements and inclement weather

Preferred Qualifications

• At least two years of previous monitoring experience
• Participation in an archaeological field school
