On-Call Archaeologist

Responsibilities

• Participate in identifying and recording archaeological potential, sites, and traditional use sites
• Work closely with a Field Director/Supervisor to provide technical recommendations for cultural resource management
• Collect field data and participate in field reconnaissance surveys (linear and block type)
• Perform excavations and construction monitoring
• Prepare monitoring logs, survey forms, site records, and other field documentation
• Provide brief work summaries for technical reports and client communications

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Anthropology or Archaeology
• Minimum 1-year of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Valid California driver's license
• Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs
• Ability to travel and work away from home
• Ability to work in outdoor environments and exposure to inclement weather

Preferred Qualifications

• Participation in an archaeological field school
