O&M Technician — Battery Energy Storage (BESS)/Power Systems

Responsibilities

• Execute preventative and corrective maintenance on BESS equipment, medium-voltage transformers, and switchgear
• Respond to site emergencies and system events within contractual timeframes
• Perform substation switching activities and support medium-voltage troubleshooting
• Support NERC operational compliance and maintain detailed operational logs
• Manage on-site spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement
• Produce detailed service reports, maintenance logs, and monthly operational reporting
• Adhere to LOTO, HSSE, and energized work protocols

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on electrical experience in utility-scale power, substation operations, or BESS
• Experience working with medium-voltage (5kV–35kV) systems
• Ability to read single-line diagrams, protection schematics, and OEM manuals
• Working knowledge of safe switching practices
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work outdoors in industrial environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior utility-scale BESS experience
• Substation high-voltage experience
• Familiarity with transformer diagnostics and breaker testing
• NERC familiarity or Generator Operator exposure
• NFPA 70E certification
• State electrical license or formal electrical training
