About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and evaluate sustainability initiatives across campus, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and carbon neutrality programs.
  • Assist in planning and implementing Ecolympics 2027, involving community organizing and event planning.
  • Support campus zero-waste efforts through recycling and compost campaigns and awareness tabling.
  • Develop initiatives such as the Green Office and Green Lab programs.
  • Support alternative transportation options, including EV infrastructure, shuttles, and biking.
  • Create sustainability-focused communications for social media, digital signage, and the Campus Digest.
  • Assist with data collection and verification for carbon neutrality annual certification and greenhouse gas reporting.

Requirements

  • Must be a full or part-time student at Oberlin College and Conservatory for the 2026/2027 academic year.
  • Demonstrated interest in environmental sustainability issues.
  • Excellent communication and outreach skills.
  • Ability to successfully collaborate with faculty, staff, and students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in student or community organizing.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Experience working with diverse audiences.
  • Comfort working professionally with faculty and staff.
