OD/ID CNC Grinder Machinist

Responsibilities

• Setup and operate manual and CNC precision grinding equipment for ID, OD, form, and surface grinding.
• Study blueprints and layouts to plan sequences of operations, work-holding arrangements, and cutting parameters.
• Perform various grinding techniques including plunge, traverse, face, form, multi-axis, and angle grinding.
• Dress abrasive wheels using diamonds or rotary wheels for straight, angle, and form dressing.
• Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, indicators, bore gauges, and height stands to work to tolerances of .0001”.
• Program CNC grinding machines on the shop floor as required.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to all established safety policies and procedures.
• Operate multiple machines simultaneously and recognize/address abrasive wheel wear.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent certificate.
• Proven experience with the setup and operation of manual and CNC precision grinding equipment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical layouts.
• Strong mathematical skills, including trigonometry and geometry, for angular and position calculations.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments to maintain tight tolerances.
• Ability to work long periods standing (up to 10 hours per day) and operate overhead cranes.
• Good eye-hand coordination and ability to use various hand tools and grinders.
