Ocean Import Specialist

Responsibilities

• Process and handle ocean import shipments, ensuring compliance with customs laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Receive and track customer bookings, send shipping instructions, and notify customers of arrivals, charges, or delays.
• Process Customs Entries, including classification, filing RLF entries, and entering electronic invoices.
• Manage FDA-related entries and monitor the release of customs and other OGA (USDA, FCC, DOT, etc.).
• Review and prepare documentation with high accuracy, including commercial invoices and Customs classifications.
• Coordinate entry and break bulk shipments while managing exceptions with customers and involved parties.
• Perform job costing, manage payables/receivables, and ensure accurate billing and invoicing.
• Dispatch freight for delivery and maintain communication with truckers to confirm Proof of Delivery (POD).

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in imports or a combination of education and expertise.
• Strong knowledge of US customs laws, practices, and procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and in a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with import entry procedures, compliance, and rules/regulations.
• Knowledge of First Port of Arrival (FPOA) entry processes.
• Experience handling FDA-related entries.
• Knowledge of Importer Security Filing (ISF) and OGA transactions.
