Ocean Export Specialist

Responsibilities

• Prepare and coordinate necessary documentation for efficient and lawful ocean export activities
• Coordinate cargo pick-up and transfers while monitoring shipment status
• Communicate with export authorities, customers, and suppliers to ensure positive relations and support
• Manage and update carrier and vendor rates, including obtaining spot rates when necessary
• Correspond with overseas agents and clients regarding pre-alerts, rate requests, and shipment status
• Track shipments and provide regular updates to customers and agents
• Create and maintain accurate customer files and perform file audits
• Manage customer invoicing and approve payables

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience handling ocean export shipments
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fluid environment and handle unexpected situations
• Ability to address work challenges with diplomacy and effective problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in the freight forwarding industry
• Previous knowledge of CargoWise (C1)
• High School Diploma or GED
• Geographical knowledge of global shipping routes
