About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise or assist with individual patient treatment programs under the direction of an OT or PT
- Conduct group activity, exercise, and education programs
- Assist clients with mobility aids and adaptive equipment
- Instruct and demonstrate the safe use of therapeutic equipment
- Monitor and report changes in patient health status to supervising clinicians
- Collaborate with inter-professional teams and provide cross-coverage across programs
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe patient treatment areas
- Assist with equipment and supplies inventory management
Requirements
- Combined Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Assistant diploma from a recognized Community College
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (C Level) Heart Saver Plus Canada certification
- Knowledge of rehabilitation approaches and the roles of OT and PT
- Knowledge of equipment such as wheelchair supplies and seating equipment
- Ability to work weekends across two inpatient units
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated computer skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in geriatric and musculoskeletal (MSK) rehabilitation
- Experience in multi-systems rehabilitation (oncology, transplant, complex medical)
