Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Responsibilities

• Treat pediatric clients using therapeutic and self-care activities to improve function under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR)
• Monitor client activities to ensure correct performance and provide encouragement and suggestions for improvement
• Document session results using the SOAP note format via point-of-service documentation
• Instruct clients, families, and caregivers in treatment program skills and techniques
• Demonstrate exercises to help clients perform everyday tasks and progress toward goals
• Collaborate with the OTR on progress reports, status updates, and changes to the plan of care
• Maintain occupational therapy records and generate revenue by recording billing information
• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following professional standards and legal regulations
• Manage equipment by following operating instructions, performing preventive maintenance, and notifying management of supply needs

Requirements

• Unrestricted Occupational Therapy Assistant degree from an accredited program
• Active Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the current state
• 1+ year of experience as a Pediatric Occupational Therapy Assistant
• Current CPR certification
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong time management skills and a caring, compassionate demeanor

• Bilingual in Spanish
