Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Responsibilities

• Treat clients using therapeutic and self-care activities to improve function under OTR direction
• Monitor client activities and offer encouragement and performance suggestions
• Collaborate with OTR on supervision meetings, progress reports, and status updates
• Document session results using SOAP note format and point of service documentation
• Instruct clients, families, and caregivers in treatment program techniques
• Demonstrate exercises to assist clients with everyday tasks and goal progression
• Verify client information and medical history changes
• Follow and collaborate on changes to the plan of care developed by the OTR
• Maintain occupational therapy records and generate revenue by recording billing information
• Maintain a safe work environment and ensure equipment is operating correctly

Requirements

• Unrestricted Occupational Therapy Assistant degree from an accredited program
• Active Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the current state
• 1+ year of experience as a Pediatric Occupational Therapy Assistant
• Current CPR certification
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a pediatric outpatient clinic setting
• Ongoing participation in continued education courses
