Occupational Therapist

Responsibilities

• Provide quality occupational therapy services to patients within the framework of patient-centered care
• Assess and treat patients, primarily in the Emergency department, including evening hours
• Collaborate effectively with inter-professional and inter-disciplinary teams
• Delegate appropriate duties to Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA) and Physiotherapy Assistants (PTA)
• Provide education to patients, families, students, and interdisciplinary team members
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, meetings, committees, and departmental quality initiatives
• Assist with coverage of other service areas as required

Requirements

• Completion of a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy (M.Sc. (OT)) or equivalent
• Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
• Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
• Excellent written, oral, and nonverbal communication skills
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the job

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in an acute care hospital setting
• Experience with surgical, oncology, cardiovascular, transplant, or neurological patients
• Experience with splinting, neurological dysfunction, seating, and positioning
• Membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) or Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT)
