About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide quality occupational therapy services to patients within the framework of patient-centered care
- Assess and treat patients, primarily in the Emergency department, including evening hours
- Collaborate effectively with inter-professional and inter-disciplinary teams
- Delegate appropriate duties to Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA) and Physiotherapy Assistants (PTA)
- Provide education to patients, families, students, and interdisciplinary team members
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, meetings, committees, and departmental quality initiatives
- Assist with coverage of other service areas as required
Requirements
- Completion of a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy (M.Sc. (OT)) or equivalent
- Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
- Excellent written, oral, and nonverbal communication skills
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the job
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in an acute care hospital setting
- Experience with surgical, oncology, cardiovascular, transplant, or neurological patients
- Experience with splinting, neurological dysfunction, seating, and positioning
- Membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) or Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT)
