About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide quality occupational therapy services to oncology patients within a patient-centered care framework
- Assess and treat patients, primarily in Auto and Bone Marrow transplant units
- Delegate appropriate duties to Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA) and Physiotherapy Assistants (PTA)
- Provide education to patients, families, students, and interdisciplinary team members
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, meetings, committees, and departmental quality initiatives
- Supervise occupational therapy students
Requirements
- Completion of a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy (M.Sc. (OT)) or equivalent
- Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
- Excellent written, oral, and nonverbal communication skills
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the job
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in an acute care hospital setting
- Experience working with oncology or transplant patients
- Experience with surgical, GIM, cardiovascular, MSICU, or nephrology patients
- Proficiency in psychosocial and physical health assessments and interventions
- Experience with splinting, neurological dysfunction, seating, and positioning
- Membership in CAOT and/or OSOT
