About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality occupational therapy services to oncology patients within a patient-centered care framework
  • Assess and treat patients, primarily in Auto and Bone Marrow transplant units
  • Delegate appropriate duties to Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA) and Physiotherapy Assistants (PTA)
  • Provide education to patients, families, students, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, meetings, committees, and departmental quality initiatives
  • Supervise occupational therapy students

Requirements

  • Completion of a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy (M.Sc. (OT)) or equivalent
  • Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written, oral, and nonverbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the job

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Experience working with oncology or transplant patients
  • Experience with surgical, GIM, cardiovascular, MSICU, or nephrology patients
  • Proficiency in psychosocial and physical health assessments and interventions
  • Experience with splinting, neurological dysfunction, seating, and positioning
  • Membership in CAOT and/or OSOT
