Occupational Health Services Technician

Responsibilities

• Conduct occupational health and safety investigations and inspections
• Apply theories, principles, and legislation related to environmental health, safety, and industrial hygiene
• Operate, calibrate, and test specialized occupational health equipment
• Collect environmental and occupational samples
• Work in various environments, including confined spaces, loud areas, and adverse weather conditions

Requirements

• Secondary school diploma or an employer-approved equivalent
• Diploma (or higher) in Occupational and Environmental Health
• Certification in Occupational Hygiene (CIH, ROH, ROHT, OHST, or equivalent) or completion of the CAF 6A Preventive Medicine Technician course
• Experience conducting occupational health and safety investigations and inspections
• Experience applying environmental health and safety legislation
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications
• Valid provincial driver’s license
• Ability to obtain Reliability Status security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of the objectives, roles, and organization of the CAF Preventive Medicine Program
• Knowledge of CAF governing orders, legislation, and regulations
