About the role

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the system-level definition of the OBD architecture for BEV and EREV vehicle platforms
  • Define and maintain the overall OBD system concept, including monitor philosophy and regulatory alignment
  • Translate regulatory and vehicle-level needs into structured and traceable OBD system requirements
  • Define interactions of OBD functions with powertrain controls, thermal systems, and energy management
  • Establish consistent diagnostic behavior across domains and ensure alignment with software implementation
  • Work with software, controls, and validation engineers to align interfaces
  • Support monitor execution conditions, DTC strategies, and vehicle-state dependencies
  • Ensure scalable integration of OBD functions into the SDV architecture
  • Drive requirements decomposition and allocation into software and controls deliverables
  • Support validation strategy development for HIL, SIL, and vehicle testing
  • Analyze system-level issues found during integration and drive resolution

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in automotive systems engineering, diagnostics, or powertrain controls
  • Strong exposure to Onboard Diagnostics (OBD)
  • Proven experience managing system-level OBD concepts and monitor strategies
  • Deep understanding of OBDII regulations, DTC concepts, and MIL behavior
  • Experience working in software-defined vehicle (SDV) architectures
  • Hands-on experience with requirements tools like Jama, DOORS, or Polarion
  • Familiarity with UDS diagnostics, CAN/Ethernet communication, and ECU interaction
  • Proficiency with engineering tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape, or ETAS INCA
