About the role

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain testable OBD requirements aligned with regulatory needs and system-level diagnostic concepts
  • Translate OBD system requirements into clear validation criteria, test cases, and acceptance conditions
  • Develop and structure test specifications for OBD monitors, readiness behavior, MIL activation, and fault handling
  • Ensure full traceability from OBD requirements to verification activities
  • Collaborate with HIL engineers, validation teams, calibration engineers, and software developers
  • Support the development and automation of HIL, SIL, and vehicle-level test scenarios
  • Review and validate diagnostic implementations against defined requirements
  • Analyze test results, diagnostic traces, and measurement data to identify gaps or non-compliances
  • Support regulatory readiness by contributing to validation reports and compliance documentation
  • Work with systems and architecture teams to ensure OBD requirements are designed for testability

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Technology, IT Systems, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or similar
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive diagnostics, validation, or requirements engineering
  • Proven experience defining testable OBD requirements and diagnostic verification criteria
  • Strong understanding of OBDII regulations, DTC behavior, and readiness states
  • Hands-on experience with HIL, SIL, MIL, and vehicle testing environments
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, ETAS INCA, CANoe/CANalyzer, and CANape
  • Familiarity with UDS diagnostics, DTC handling, and communication over CAN/Ethernet
  • Experience with requirements and traceability tools such as Jama, DOORS, or Polarion
  • Ability to interpret measurement data, logs (MDF/BLF), and diagnostic traces
