About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director in administering food service programs including NSLP, SBP, and SFSP to ensure nutrition and financial integrity.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, manage staff absences, and execute contingency plans to ensure uninterrupted service.
  • Ensure food quality and safety standards are met across all district kitchens through regular site visits and audits.
  • Maintain strict compliance with HACCP controls, ServSafe standards, and federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Manage vendor relations, procurement, and inventory to mitigate stock outs and ensure compliance with federal bidding processes.
  • Provide technical assistance for the district's Point of Sale (POS) system and lead monthly manager meetings.
  • Participate in the selection, training, and evaluation of food service personnel.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding personnel matters and student health/socioeconomic data in compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, and USDA.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the School Nutrition industry.
  • ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment).
  • Proficiency in GSuite/Google Drive, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to pass an expanded criminal history background check.
  • Access to reliable transportation for travel between schools and meetings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, parents, and administrators.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Service Management, Nutrition, Culinary Arts, or a closely related field.
  • Experience with desktop publishing and social media for program promotion.
