About the role
Responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based nutrition education curricula focused on chronic disease prevention and management.
- Implement Food Is Medicine (FIM) strategies, including medically tailored groceries, food pharmacies, and fruit/vegetable prescription programs.
- Engage with community and clinical partners to support sustainable nutrition education infrastructure.
- Conduct outreach to increase awareness and participation in nutrition education services across York County.
- Coordinate with healthcare organizations, such as hospitals and primary care practices, to support participant referral and enrollment.
- Support program participants in using health monitoring equipment in non-clinical settings.
- Complete all required reporting and evaluation processes for CMS, Maine DHHS, and the University.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, public health, exercise science, health education, behavioral sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of one year of professional experience developing and maintaining partnerships with community or clinical organizations.
- Demonstrated experience implementing nutrition education or obesity prevention programming.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel) for documentation and reporting.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, community-based role.
- Valid Maine driver’s license with the ability to travel regularly throughout York County.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current credential as a Registered Dietitian (RD).
- Two or more years of experience delivering nutrition education to diverse populations.
- Documented experience with Food Is Medicine–related strategies, such as produce prescription programs or clinical referral models.
