About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily preparation and service of breakfast, lunch, and snacks in accordance with CACFP guidelines.
  • Manage an annual food purchasing budget exceeding $100,000, including forecasting and cost-effective purchasing.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and monitor stock levels to prevent waste and shortages.
  • Supervise and direct kitchen support staff, providing coaching and performance feedback.
  • Implement and monitor strict food safety, sanitation, and cleaning procedures.
  • Track food allergies and dietary restrictions to ensure all accommodations are prepared safely.
  • Maintain compliance with CACFP, Ohio Department of Health, and child care licensing regulations.
  • Support family-style dining practices to encourage healthy eating habits in children.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience managing food service operations, preferably in an early childhood or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of CACFP requirements and food safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, purchasing, and inventory systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a kitchen environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in nutrition, food service management, culinary arts, or early childhood education.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a food service setting.
  • Vocational or in-service coursework in food service or related areas.
