Nursing Unit Clerk

Responsibilities

• Perform receptionist duties including answering inquiries, managing telephone calls, and directing visitors to appropriate departments
• Obtain resident information for admission, collect fees, and manage signed consent forms
• Maintain resident trust accounts, process rent and comfort cheques, and manage petty cash
• Execute clerical tasks such as filing, typing, photocopying, and maintaining office equipment
• Transcribe physician orders to appropriate forms and process requisitions for labs or x-rays
• Book resident appointments for tests and procedures and arrange necessary transportation
• Maintain staffing records for regular and relief staff and assist with payroll data entry
• Monitor the building lobby and parking area to ensure proper sign-in and adherence to protocols
• Record statistical data on resident charts, such as blood pressure and weight, following established procedures

Requirements

• Grade 12 education
• Completion of a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program certificate
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• One year of recent related experience
• Typing speed of at least 50 wpm
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Proficiency in using various software applications and office equipment
