About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide basic patient care including vital signs, enemas, and basic tests such as glucoscan and hemacult
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, personal hygiene, ambulation, and nourishment
- Perform procedures such as collecting patient specimens and weighing patients
- Maintain the patient environment by making beds, tidying rooms, and preparing for admissions or transfers
- Document all activities accurately on proper records or logs
- Provide constant observation and documentation of assigned patients
- Assist with patient discharge and transfer preparation
- Maintain supplies and equipment within the unit
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be listed on the IDPH Health Care Worker Registry (HCWR) as an Illinois CNA or be a nursing student who has passed the written competency exam and is listed on the HCWR
- Current CPR/BLS Certification
- Ability to perform moderate to extreme physical effort, including walking, standing, and performing CPR
- Ability to lift heavy or awkward objects/patients over 50 lbs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective teamwork and documentation
