About the role
Responsibilities
- Obtain and record vital signs, including temperature, weight, and oxygen saturation, reporting abnormal values to the RN
- Monitor and report the physical condition of assigned patients
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, oral care, feeding, and toileting
- Perform specimen collection, including urine, stool, and sputum, and transport laboratory specimens
- Assist with wound care, including cleansing and redressing non-sterile wounds
- Provide respiratory care assistance, such as coaching patients with incentive spirometers
- Support clinical staff with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers
- Maintain a clean and organized patient environment by stocking supplies and making beds
- Perform physical tasks including moving, turning, and transporting patients and equipment
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- One of the following: 6 months of acute care experience, enrollment in a nursing program with fundamentals completed, 1 year of rehab facility experience, or completion of a CNA program
- Ability to perform a wide range of physical activities, including lifting, positioning, and transporting patients
