About the role
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily operations of PECaN’s plant production, conservation, and engagement programs
- Supervise seasonal staff, workforce program participants, and interns in horticultural work
- Perform scheduling, project tracking, purchasing coordination, and logistics
- Develop and maintain internal documentation, reports, and operational tools
- Support plant and seed distribution activities and communicate availability to partners
- Serve as liaison with Human Resources and ITT for staff scheduling and onboarding
- Support grant development, reporting, and fundraising efforts
- Coordinate meetings, workshops, volunteer events, and site visits
- Support external communications including program materials and social media content
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree in horticulture, arboriculture, or landscape architecture with four years of horticultural experience, including two years in a supervisory or managerial capacity
- OR a high school diploma with one year of supervisory, administrative, or managerial experience

The Division of Environment and Planning aims to protect, restore, and expand New York City's green spaces and natural areas. The Plant Ecology Center and Nursery (PECaN) produces native plant material that supports restoration, conservation, and urban forestry efforts across NYC.
