Nurse Unit Manager - General Surgical

Responsibilities

• Provide strong, visible leadership to the surgical nursing team on the 1 East ward
• Oversee day-to-day operational management of the unit
• Coordinate and optimise patient care delivery for urology, gastroenterology, and general surgery
• Drive performance by monitoring and achieving key KPIs
• Mentor and develop ANUMs and emerging nurse leaders
• Collaborate closely with medical and allied health teams
• Champion clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives
• Manage patient assessments and complex clinical presentations

Requirements

• Registered Nurse registration with NMBA/AHPRA
• Minimum 5 years of ANUM or equivalent senior leadership experience
• Postgraduate qualification in surgical, perioperative, or a related specialty nursing area
• Management qualification or willingness to obtain one within an agreed timeframe
• Strong clinical expertise in acute general surgical nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• Current membership with an appropriate professional body (e.g., Australian College of Nursing)
• Proven ability to lead change and improve clinical outcomes in a fast-paced environment
