About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide strong, visible leadership to the surgical nursing team on the 1 East ward
- Oversee day-to-day operational management of the unit
- Coordinate and optimise patient care delivery for urology, gastroenterology, and general surgery
- Drive performance by monitoring and achieving key KPIs
- Mentor and develop ANUMs and emerging nurse leaders
- Collaborate closely with medical and allied health teams
- Champion clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives
- Manage patient assessments and complex clinical presentations
Requirements
- Registered Nurse registration with NMBA/AHPRA
- Minimum 5 years of ANUM or equivalent senior leadership experience
- Postgraduate qualification in surgical, perioperative, or a related specialty nursing area
- Management qualification or willingness to obtain one within an agreed timeframe
- Strong clinical expertise in acute general surgical nursing
Preferred Qualifications
- Current membership with an appropriate professional body (e.g., Australian College of Nursing)
- Proven ability to lead change and improve clinical outcomes in a fast-paced environment
