About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and management for breast medical oncology patients in an outpatient setting
- Perform patient histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations
- Collaborate with physicians to develop and implement comprehensive plans of care
- Manage treatment-related toxicities, symptom management, and palliative care
- Review laboratory, pathology, and radiographic test results
- Identify individuals eligible for clinical trials and support clinical research participation
- Provide patient and family education, counseling, and support
- Participate in tumor board meetings and multidisciplinary programmatic meetings
- Collaborate with other Advanced Practice Professionals to ensure continuous patient care
Requirements
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
- Current specialty certification as a Nurse Practitioner (e.g., Adult-Gerontology Acute Care, Primary Care, Adult NP, FNP, or Acute NP)
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the NCSBN
- Current DEA registration
- AHA Approved BLS certification
- 2 years of Advanced Practice Professional (APP) experience
- Clinical experience in oncology
Preferred Qualifications
- Specific experience in Breast Medical Oncology
- Experience caring for patients participating in clinical trials
- Demonstrated ability to function independently and work effectively in a team environment
- Strong leadership skills and excellent interpersonal communication
