About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and management of patient care within the Complex Continuing Care program
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures in accordance with NP scope of practice and medical directives
- Formulate and implement care plans, including prescribing pharmacological and counseling interventions
- Promote health and wellness through individual, family, and group counseling and instruction
- Act as a preceptor, resource, and coach to nursing colleagues, interprofessional team members, and students
- Lead the development and implementation of clinical policies, practice guidelines, and quality assurance initiatives
- Contribute to nursing research and the dissemination of evidence-informed practices to improve patient outcomes
Requirements
- Master's degree in Nursing from a recognized program
- NP-Adult or NP-PHC certification
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (RN EC)
- Membership in the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Experience in respiratory care, including patients requiring artificial airways or chronic non-invasive ventilation
- Knowledge of nursing research methodology
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years of nursing experience in the extended class
- ACLS certification
- RNAO Best Practice Spotlight Organization Champion status
