About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, client-centred primary health care to the diverse UBC student population through in-person and virtual visits.
- Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic health conditions, including mental health concerns.
- Coordinate appropriate internal and external referrals to ensure continuity and follow-up of care.
- Collaborate with an interprofessional team, including family physicians, specialists, and campus partners like Counselling Services.
- Participate in on-call rotations for urgent or emergent medically related calls outside regular clinic hours.
- Contribute to health promotion, outreach, educational programming, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and participate in health-related committees.
- Act as a student advocate, promoting autonomy, dignity, privacy, and respect.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Nursing – Nurse Practitioner.
- Current BCCNM registration in good standing as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Valid BC Nurse Practitioner license.
- Professional liability coverage with the Canadian Nurses Protective Society (CNPS).
- Legal authorization to work in British Columbia/Canada.
- Commitment to enhancing awareness and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in acute or outpatient mental health settings.
- Experience working in a post-secondary or multicultural setting.
- Strong knowledge of mental health assessment and diagnostic frameworks (e.g., DSM-5).
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
- Demonstrated ability to provide culturally safe, trauma-informed care to diverse populations.
- Experience in health education, research, or evaluation.
