About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical care and high-level autonomy in managing patients within the spine surgery group and broader neurosciences program
- Collect and interpret patient health data to determine medical diagnoses and treat complex responses
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and perform administrative responsibilities to enhance patient care
- Participate in policy and procedure development and conduct research activities
- Deliver and coordinate professional development and educational programs for nursing staff
- Act as a clinical resource and consultant to the professional community and other healthcare agencies
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Nursing (NP Adult or Primary Care stream)
- Current Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- 3-5 years of acute care nursing experience in neurosurgery, spine, oncology, neuro-interventional, or neurology
- Clinical competence in neurosurgical and orthopedic spinal conditions
- Experience in nursing research methodology
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Canadian Nurses Association certification in Neuroscience Nursing
- Eligibility for or current cross-appointment to an academic institution
- Membership in the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO)
