Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatry

Responsibilities

• Assess patient health status through comprehensive history taking and physical examinations.
• Initiate and order therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examinations.
• Prescribe medication regimens and interpret findings to alter plans of care based on clinical standards.
• Educate and counsel patients and families regarding health promotion, disease prevention, and chronic illness management.
• Document all findings, diagnoses, and plans of care accurately within the patient's medical record.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.
• Manage and coordinate a patient caseload within the Emergency Department setting.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited program designed for Nurse Practitioner training.
• Current New York State Nurse Practitioner registration and RN licensure.
• National Board Certification in Advanced Practice Nursing (may be deferred up to 1 year in specific cases).
• Valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Progressive clinical experience relevant to the area of psychiatric practice.
• Ability to work within a Collaborative Practice Agreement or Relationship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced specialty life support certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NALS, or NRP as required by the clinical specialty.
• Previous experience working in an Emergency Department or high-acuity psychiatric setting.
