Nurse Aide

Responsibilities

• Assist the school nurse in the daily operation of the health service office to support the educational environment.
• Administer health screenings including vision, hearing, blood pressure, scoliosis, height, and weight.
• Provide first aid treatment for student injuries and illnesses.
• Maintain accurate cumulative health records and emergency procedure documentation for all students.
• Supervise sick or injured students until they are released to a parent or guardian.
• Notify parents or guardians regarding student accidents or illnesses.
• Maintain a roster of all student visits to the nurse's office and assist with monthly health service reports.
• Handle suspected cases of child abuse through proper referral channels.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Texas driver's license and a reliable vehicle for district-wide travel.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to maintain emotional control under stress and communicate effectively with students and staff.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including bending, lifting, and stooping.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Medical Office Assistant (MOA), or Medical Office Specialist (MOS).
• Current CPR certification (must be obtained within 30 days of employment if not already held).
• At least one year of experience in a health setting.
• At least one year of experience working with children.
