Nurse Aide II

Responsibilities

• Obtain and record vital signs, including temperature, weight, and oxygen saturation, reporting abnormal values to the RN
• Monitor and report the physical condition of assigned patients and respond to monitor alarms
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as personal hygiene, bathing, oral care, and feeding
• Perform specimen collection, including urine, stool, and sputum, and transport laboratory specimens
• Assist with wound care, including cleansing and redressing non-sterile wounds and applying various dressings
• Provide respiratory care assistance, such as coaching patients with incentive spirometers and assisting with tracheostomy care
• Maintain a clean and organized patient environment by stocking supplies, making beds, and managing equipment
• Assist RNs with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• At least 6 months of recent experience in a patient care setting OR Junior status in an accredited BSN program OR Second year in an accredited ADN program
• Ability to read and write

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification as a Nurse Aide or Medical Assistant
• Recent experience in an acute care inpatient setting
• Basic computer skills
