About the role

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and obtain vital signs, including temperature, weight, oxygen saturation, and pain scores, reporting abnormalities to the RN
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as personal hygiene, bathing, oral care, and feeding
  • Perform specimen collection, including urine, stool, sputum, and swabs, and transport laboratory specimens
  • Assist with wound care, including cleansing and redressing non-sterile wounds and applying various dressings
  • Provide respiratory care assistance, such as coaching patients with incentive spirometers and assisting with tracheostomy care
  • Maintain a clean and organized patient environment by stocking supplies, making beds, and managing equipment
  • Support clinical staff with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Minimum of 6 months recent experience in a patient care setting OR current status as a nursing student (Junior in BSN or second year in ADN program)
  • Ability to perform a wide range of physical activities, including moving, transporting, and positioning patients and equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification as a Nurse Aide or Medical Assistant
  • Recent experience in an acute care inpatient setting
  • Basic computer skills
