About the Company

Radiant is an El Segundo, CA-based startup building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor designed to provide critical power to hospitals, data centers, and remote sites.

Responsibilities

  • Lead nuclear design and analysis including shielding, neutronics, and transient analysis
  • Perform operational dose and shutdown activation analysis
  • Conduct criticality safety and verification and validation (V&V) of reactor models
  • Analyze radiological dose consequences from accident scenarios
  • Run coupled neutronics and thermal calculations to understand reactor dynamics
  • Provide technical expertise and feedback to other functional engineering teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering or equivalent
  • 1-2+ years of nuclear engineering industry experience (MS equivalent to 2 years)
  • Experience with radiation transport methods (MCNP, OpenMC, or Serpent)
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, C#, FORTRAN, or another scientific computing language
  • Basic knowledge of thermal hydraulic principles
  • Ability to work 100% onsite in El Segundo, CA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with variance reduction techniques (Attila4MC, ADVANTG)
  • Proficiency with nuclear software packages like MOOSE, RELAP, Pronghorn, or GRIFFIN
  • Competency in high-performance computing environments
  • Familiarity with CAD design software (NX, SolidWorks, or SpaceClaim)
  • Experience with dose consequence software such as MAACS or NRC-RADTRAN
  • Hands-on experience designing hardware or performing tests
