Non-Executive Director - DCO Market Participant

Responsibilities

• Provide board-level oversight for Smarkets Board of Trade Clearing LLC, including participant eligibility, clearing and settlement operations, and collateralisation.
• Offer practical insight into how clearinghouse rules, controls, and processes affect participants, customers, and other stakeholders.
• Provide non-executive oversight and constructive challenge regarding operational risk, market conduct, default management, and regulatory compliance.
• Contribute to discussions on financial resources, system safeguards, and recovery and wind-down planning.
• Attend quarterly board meetings and remain available for urgent matters, regulatory reviews, or operational incidents.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of relevant experience in trading, clearing, derivatives markets, brokerage, or financial market infrastructure.
• Strong familiarity with clearing and settlement processes, collateralisation, and payment flows.
• Deep understanding of operational risk, market conduct, and participant onboarding.
• Experience with exchange or clearinghouse rulebooks and the practical implications of governance decisions for market users.
• Ability to manage potential conflicts of interest and act in accordance with regulatory obligations rather than solely as an advocate for a single commercial interest.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in liquidity provision, market operations, risk and collateral management, or settlement.
• Experience within event contracts or specialized derivatives markets.
