About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform in-process and final inspections on civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical scopes including concrete, rebar, and cable terminations.
- Execute Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and verify adherence to drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Witness critical tests such as torque/tension, megger/insulation resistance, and continuity.
- Maintain comprehensive QA/QC records, including inspection reports, mill certs, weld maps, and nonconformance reports (NCRs).
- Identify, log, and track NCRs while supporting root cause analysis and verifying corrective actions.
- Ensure documentation supports system turnover packages, as-builts, and client handover requirements.
- Verify compliance with industry codes and standards such as NEC/NESC and utility specifications.
- Inspect incoming materials and equipment for damage, certification, and conformity to storage requirements.
- Provide field coaching to craft and foremen regarding workmanship and documentation best practices.
Requirements
- 5–8+ years of experience in QA/QC or field construction.
- At least 3 years of experience in power/utility, substation, T&D, or industrial electrical environments.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, one-lines, schematics, and specifications.
- Familiarity with NEC/NESC, utility standards, and typical ITP/checklist workflows.
- Proficiency in digital QA/QC platforms such as Procore, BIM 360/ACC, or Bluebeam.
- Willingness to work onsite at active construction sites, travel to project locations, and work night shifts or extended hours as required.
