Night Shift Custodian

Responsibilities

• Keep buildings and campus areas neat, clean, and sanitary for the college community.
• Perform daily cleaning of restrooms using specified procedures.
• Execute various cleaning tasks including vacuuming carpets, maintaining hard surface flooring, and removing trash and recycling.
• Clean glass, windows, whiteboards, furniture, walls, and ceiling diffusers.
• Order and maintain appropriate custodial supplies from the warehouse.
• Report building maintenance problems and assist students, staff, and instructors as needed.
• Secure buildings and perform light snow removal at entryways.
• Complete ongoing training regarding equipment operation, safety regulations, and new products.

Requirements

• Ability to learn to operate extractors, burnishers, auto scrubbers, and related equipment.
• Ability to read and understand operating instructions.
• Ability to periodically move equipment, furniture, or supplies weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders and perform physical tasks including bending, reaching, and pushing.
• Effective interpersonal skills to interact courteously and impartially with varied populations.
• Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment physical test to verify ability to perform duties.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of custodial experience, preferably involving commercial cleaning of hard surfaces and restrooms.
