News Producer

Responsibilities

• Select, research, and write content for live newscasts to support the WGAL News 8 brand
• Collaborate with reporters and photojournalists to develop highly visual stories
• Coordinate and execute creative vision with anchors, meteorologists, and production staff
• Contribute engaging content to the station’s digital and social media platforms

Requirements

• Excellent writing, spelling, grammar, and copy-editing skills
• Ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple crews and responsibilities simultaneously
• Ability to synthesize and summarize complex information into comprehensive segments
• Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards
• Availability to work holidays, nights, weekends, overnights, and breaking news shifts

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous news producing experience
• Proficiency with ENPS
• College degree in broadcast journalism, broadcast news, or a related field
• Military training from the Defense Information School (DINFOS) with associated producing experience
