About the role
Responsibilities
- Select, research, and write content for live newscasts to support the WGAL News 8 brand
- Collaborate with reporters and photojournalists to develop highly visual stories
- Coordinate and execute creative vision with anchors, meteorologists, and production staff
- Contribute engaging content to the station’s digital and social media platforms
Requirements
- Excellent writing, spelling, grammar, and copy-editing skills
- Ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple crews and responsibilities simultaneously
- Ability to synthesize and summarize complex information into comprehensive segments
- Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards
- Availability to work holidays, nights, weekends, overnights, and breaking news shifts
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous news producing experience
- Proficiency with ENPS
- College degree in broadcast journalism, broadcast news, or a related field
- Military training from the Defense Information School (DINFOS) with associated producing experience
