News Intern

Responsibilities

• Assist producers, editors, assignment editors, reporters, photographers, and anchors in the newsroom
• Participate in the editorial process for both broadcast and digital platforms
• Engage in newsgathering, writing, and storytelling
• Support newscast producing and story selection
• Assist with digital and social media priorities
• Learn control room operations, including boothing shows
• Communicate with field crews and follow breaking news protocols

Requirements

• A strong interest in journalism
• Educational training or experience in writing and editing for broadcast
• Excellent spelling and grammar skills
• Ability to remain calm and effective under the pressure of time-sensitive production
• Versatility to handle a wide range of news topics and subjects
• Strong knowledge of local and national news stories
