Network & Systems Engineer (Linux)

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain Cisco-based LAN/WAN network infrastructure, including routing, switching, and firewalls
• Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents and service outages to ensure high availability
• Perform proactive monitoring of network performance, availability, and capacity
• Configure and support network security controls such as VPNs and access controls
• Conduct root cause analysis for network issues and implement permanent fixes
• Assist with Linux system support (RHEL/Ubuntu) and infrastructure health checks
• Support network upgrades, changes, and deployments in collaboration with senior engineers
• Contribute to technical documentation, standards, and operational improvements

Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience in a Network Engineering or Network Support role
• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking (routing, switching, VLANs)
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and network security principles
• Experience with incident management and troubleshooting in live environments
• Australian Citizenship is mandatory for customer site access
• Valid driver’s licence and access to a car for travel between data centres and customer sites

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to Linux systems administration (RHEL preferred)
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Nagios, or Prometheus
• Basic scripting exposure using Bash or Python
• Experience with cloud networking (AWS or Azure)
